Biography:
Pablo Ancona was born on February 22, 1977 in New York City. In 1990 he moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. After he graduated from Santa Fe High school in 1995 he attended the Art Institute of Chicago for a year. He then left school and moved to Boston where he worked at a graphics production house, did a lot of skateboarding and kept working on his art and his DJ career. After spending a month traveling through Europe with friends, he moved back to New York City were he worked for an advertising agency, a television program and then the New York Historical society installing exhibits. In 2004 he returned to New Mexico and enrolled at the College of Santa Fe were he studied film, photography, art and documentary. He produced several documentary films and photo essays. During his junior year he produced a documentary with a fellow student on a community art project entitled “Memory Lines." He graduated in 2008 with Bachelor of Arts in Documentary Studies and a minor in Art. Since that time, Pablo has been working with local community artist, Chrissie Orr on the “El Otra Lado” project, recording and editing the stories of immigrants and young people in New Mexico.
